  • Overview

    The Seminar Network (TSN) is seeking a Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to lead the FP&A function at Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and AFP Foundation (AFPF).  The VP of FP&A is the senior finance leader of the organization and works closely with leadership of this $80 to $100MM non-profit organization.  The position reports to the CFO of The Seminar Network, which provides financial support to over a dozen non-profit organizations.  The ideal candidate will have experience as a successful team leader, have strong business acumen and finance skills, drive change, be very proactive in their approach to their role, and show the ability to work with team members at all levels.  They will have demonstrated experience driving enhanced performance through strategic partnership with organizational leaders. 

    Responsibilities

    • Provide financial leadership to AFP and AFPF.
    • Supervise and manage AFP and AFPF financial planning and analysis team.
    • Partner with management team to provide strategic insight and recommendations for business operations. Collaborate with leaders across the network to leverage financial analyses for the benefit of other organizations supported by TSN.
    • Manage organization’s annual financial planning and monthly forecasting processes effectively and efficiently, tying them to organizational strategies and goals.
    • Ensure organizational outlays are managed within approved plans and forecasts.
    • Assist TSN finance staff in cash flow management on behalf of AFP and AFPF.
    • Oversee long-term financial planning.
    • Work with accounting staff to understand plan and forecast variances, and work with organization to address variances as needed.
    • Support organization leaders with insightful quantitative analysis and process support for major spending initiatives and other ad-hoc projects.
    • Identify areas for improvement in financial performance and work with organization leaders to implement as appropriate.
    • Provide reporting to headquarters and field organization leaders to help ensure a high level of compliance.
    • Facilitate AFP and AFPF Audit Committee meetings.
    • Model and drive a culture that exemplifies our guiding principles. Focus on developing members of the team to maximize the team’s contribution to the mission of AFP, AFPF and The Seminar Network.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • MBA or CPA preferred
    • 10+ years or progressively responsible, relevant financial experience
    • Successful supervisory experience
    • Non-profit experience preferred
    • Demonstrated commitment to compliance
    • Entrepreneurial attitude with a bias toward action
    • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, environment
    • A passion for advancing free and open societies
