Vice President of Accounting

The Seminar Network is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead the accounting operations team within the Finance organization.  This 20-person team, provides accounting services for over a dozen organizations.  The position is directly responsible for managing all activities in the area of Accounts Payable, P-Card, General Ledger, Cash Management, Tax, and Compliance.   The ideal candidate will have experience as a successful team leader, with a passion for managing best in class accounting services.  The candidate should be very proactive in their approach to their role, and show the ability to work with team members at all levels.  They will have experience putting in place processes and controls that will improve timeliness, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.


  • Develop a strategic plan for the accounting department
  • Cultivate a team with strong customer focus and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Drive improvements and efficiencies to various systems and processes for a newly integrated capability
  • Oversee the monthly financial reporting process and drive standardization financial policies and procedures for all organizations
  • Assess risk in accounting and financial processes and establishes appropriate controls
  • Provide effective and timely financial data to the Financial Planning and Analysis team and support them in their various analytical needs
  • Lead the preparation of financial information for annual external audits, tax returns, and other regulatory filings
  • Oversee banking relationships and coordination of treasury activities for the various organizations
  • Lead all activities related to financial compliance, ensuring that we are always adhering to applicable laws and regulations
  • Supervise development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures, and related documentation
  • Collaborate with leadership on emerging accounting pronouncements


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years or progressively responsible, relevant experience
  • Experience successfully managing large teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with a bias toward action
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA
  • Non-profit experience
  • A passion for advancing free and open societies
