Overview

The Foundation Relations team focuses on private and public foundations with significant assets ($100M+) and will approach professional foundations that have regional or national funding alignment with The Seminar Network’s funding priorities.

 

Reporting to the Managing Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, and working closely with teams across the Seminar Network, the Associate Director is focused on generating revenue and increasing revenue generating capabilities of the Seminar Network’s Corporate & Foundation Relations team.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Seminar Network’s strategic goals to support the organizational plan for mapping, researching, prospecting, and securing six-seven figure+ foundation prospects.
  • Develop and team lead adoption of revenue generating and customer fundraising platforms including ongoing programs related to the Seminar Network organizations and priorities.  
  • Build a pipeline of desirable prospects and develop foundation-specific approach plans, which could include philanthropic/foundation grants, cause marketing, sponsorship of Seminar Network campaigns and events, employee engagement, and where appropriate, may also include non-revenue activities in support of the partnership.
  • Secure meetings, in conjunction with Seminar Network leadership, build relationships with key prospect contacts, build strategic stewardship activities and lead new partnership discussions, including development of partnership propositions.
  • Work collaboratively and seamlessly with colleagues across the following Development functions to leverage all company assets in an effort to initiate innovative ideas and maximize opportunities: Direct Marketing, Individual Giving, Planned Giving, Development Communications & Marketing, Seminar & Events, Donor Relations & Stewardship, and Development Operations and Support.
  • Work closely with Seminar Network colleagues, and work to ensure partnership terms are in compliance with Seminar Network processes and guidelines.
  • Manage the team’s portfolio of foundation donors in internal database, Salesforce

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of work experience required
  • 7+ years’ experience in a professional environment is required
  • A passion for and commitment to free-market principles
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and high degree of discretion.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office; proficiency with donor databases, such as Salesforce.
  • Humility, integrity, passion, motivation, and an entrepreneurial attitude
  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of foundation fundraising techniques required.
  • Demonstrated ability in grant and proposal writing at appropriate levels for varied proposal development. 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals are essential. 
  • Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision. 
  • Corporate and/or foundation experience is preferred, especially with strong track record of securing sponsorships, writing of proposal and development of a stewardship process following securing of partnerships.
