Overview

The Seminar Network seeks a Research Associate to join the team. The Research Associate will provide assistance to the organization by researching new prospects, current members, and connections for the organization to approach. The Research Associate will also expand upon existing research and profile data and analyze new and existing data.

Responsibilities

  • Research prospective and existing major gift, foundation, and corporate supporters using internet, print, and electronic sources as well as in-house files and documents, and interviews with fundraising staff and volunteers. Specific attention required to matters relating to wealth capacity, philanthropic inclination and ideological alignment
  • Investigate new potential member leads, identify connections, and develop new information on our existing supporters
  • Categorize prospects and donors by common features (e.g. topical interests, industry affiliation, giving capacity etc.) in an effort to help shape the appropriate outreach and communication approach
  • Assist in assignment of prospects and donors to fundraiser portfolios
  • Manage all donor wealth screening activities for the donor database and prospect pool
  • Identify new research techniques, strategies, and sources
  • Write organized reports on prospective and current members (in depth donor research profiles).
  • Review tax documents, contact information, and other member communications
  • Provide the team with additional research and support as necessary
  • Maintain guidelines and policies for accurate and ethical management of donor and prospect information
  • Collaborate with Senior Research Management team to devise database enhancements, process improvements, and enhanced techniques
  • Work with Individual Giving - Major Gifts, Principled Gifts and Planned Giving teams to properly identify strong major gift prospects to ensure prospects are properly moving through the pipeline
  • Other duties as determined by candidate’s skills, knowledge, and interests.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of work experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in research, communications, fundraising, or business development preferred
  • Commitment to free enterprise and free market principles
  • Salesforce or other CRM system, FEC Data analytics experience preferred
  • Strong analytic problem-solving capability
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while integrating a high degree of attention to detail and organization
